Day 24: Exploring Vienna

Vienna is a pretty city. Dare I say, the Viennese are even cleaner than the Germans! Nearly 50% of this city is green space, and all the parks here are gorgeous. The city has an unshakable feeling of regality, even though it doesn’t strike me as pretentious. Old palaces stand tall and appear spectacularly maintained. Some have been converted to government buildings while most are open to the public. Statues of national heroes and artists (such as composers) abound.

I got lunch today at a great little café near the Vienna theatre called “Pech.” A crispy chicken sandwich with sweet chili sauce hit the spot.

I took one of those touristy “hop-on-hop-off” bus tours. It’s a great way to get an idea of the city you’re in, but in Vienna it’s not very entertaining. You can learn about important landmarks which, when navigating around the city, can be rather helpful.
